'' In order to increase the cultural and economic participation of underrepresented groups and non-profit organizations, BAVC connects diverse communities to media creation and innovation. We teach. We empower creative expression. We develop future media and media makers. And we preserve historic media.
We are motivated to do this work through a long-standing commitment to freedom of expression and the creation of a more just and representative society.
Among our beliefs:
That emerging media technologies represent enormous economic and cultural potential and opportunity for underrepresented communities and non-profit organizations.
That telling compelling stories has the potential to create powerful change in both the media maker and audience;
That media creation can be a powerful tool for personal development, healing and growth; and
That there is power and efficiency in collaboration, particularly collaboration that brings together industry, government, and non-profit organizations.
