'' In the Financial Times survey of 2006, the School was ranked in the world’s top 100 business schools and 3rd in Europe for its research. That research feeds directly into our taught Masters programmes.



LUBS has also been successful in the latest ESRC national recognition exercise for research training outlets. Both our outlets, Economics and Management & Business have been recognised for PhD training. In addition, eight out of the nine Masters programmes submitted have also won ESRC recognition.



The 1990s were a period of successful growth and of a rapidly rising reputation for the Business School. It is now internationally recognised as one of the UK’s leading business schools, with more than 1,500 undergraduate and 500 postgraduate students from over 50 countries studying for a diverse and flexible range of degree programmes.



Over 100 academic staff, including 26 professors, bring a rigorous but practical approach to learning and teaching in the School through carefully planned programmes and the benefits of their experience in both the academic and business worlds. Most are pre-eminent in their field and have a significant number of books and publications to their name.



Indeed, the Business School has research staff of the highest calibre and internationally recognised centres of research excellence. It was awarded the high research rating of 5 in the latest Research Assessment Exercise (2001), equal to the ratings of Oxford, Cambridge and Manchester Business Schools.



Directors and senior managers from leading organisations advise the School, provide projects and placements for our students, and make contributions to our programmes and visiting speakers and guests. Recent participants have included Asda, Barclays Bank. British Aerospace, British Telecom, Eurotunnel, Financial Times, Ford, GE Capital, Halifax plc, Johnson & Johnson, the NHS Executive, Powergen, SAP, Unisys and Wang Global.
