'' PACE Institute began as the training division of Professional Practice Management Association, a Reading, PA-based consulting organization founded in 1977 by Rhoda E. Dersh. To meet the expanding need for services, PACE became a licensed business school and embarked on a sustained growth curve.
Today, PACE has come of age, offering specialized associates degrees, 30 career programs and special interest classes, all featuring office, computer and electronic technologies.
The PACE Philosophy Constant striving for excellence in preparing its students for employment. The belief that self-confidence is at least as important for most students in obtaining employment as are the more specific business and technical skills. A flexible administration of its programs while maintaining standards of excellence. Responsiveness to the needs of individual students as well as to emerging needs in the business and technical community. Involving faculty, staff, and students in evaluating the educational program including related student services. Working with the business community to develop new programs for emerging business needs and to familiarize students with the realities of the world of work. Offering full and equal access to all programs, facilities, activities, and services without regard to sex, race, color, religion, creed, national origin or disability.
History
1977 PACE Institute begins as the training division of Professional Practice Management Association, a Reading, PA-based consulting organization founded in 1977 by Rhoda E. Dersh.
1977-1982 To meet the expanding need for services, PACE becomes a licensed business school and more than doubles the size and scope of its operations.
1982 Licensed as a private business school by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Department of Education, later expanding to include both technical and business programs.
1984 PACE becomes the first business school in Berks County to be accredited by the Association of Independent Colleges and Schools. Classrooms are added to accommodate a growing student body.
1986 PACE is the first private licensed school in Berks County to gain state approval to confer specialized associate degrees. Classrooms are added to accommodate a growing student body.
1986 Introduces the first electronic technology programs in a private licensed school in Berks County.
1984, 1990, 1996, 2002 Awarded the maximum 6-year grant of accreditation by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools.
2003 Additional satellite locations are planned in order to continue to give students the advantage of a small school.
