'' The University of New England is an independent, coeducational university with two distinctive campuses in two Maine coastal cities. The University Campus is located on a beautiful site in Biddeford, Maine, where the Saco River flows into the Atlantic Ocean. The Westbrook College Campus in Portland is designated a national historic district and is quintessential New England, with a central green surrounded by classic brick buildings.
The University has degree programs in health sciences, natural sciences, human services, management, education and the liberal arts. The University includes Maines only medical school, the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine, which emphasizes the education of primary care physicians. Enrollments for the two campuses total 3,116, including 491 medical students. UNE also has several distance learning programs and a satellite nursing program in Israel.
U.S. News & World Report has recognized UNE as one of the “Best Universities� in the North that offer “a full range of undergraduate and master’s programs.� The College of Osteopathic Medicine has been recognized for educational excellence in primary care, geriatrics and osteopathic manipulative medicine. ...''
